SA Recycling LLC of Orange California announced today that it has acquired the business assets of PSC Metals LLC. The acquisition closed and became effective on Tuesday December 7, 2021. SA Recycling completed the acquisition of PSC Metals from Icahn Enterprises L.P., significantly expanding its metal recycling footprint.
SA Recycling LLC adds 30 scrap metal processing locations in seven US states, primarily in the Midwest, the Ohio Valley and south. The acquisition includes four shredders in Tennessee, including Chattanooga, Harriman, Knoxville, and Nashville; three in Ohio, including Canton, Columbus, and Wooster; one in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and one in St Louis, Missouri.
SA Recycling CEO George Adams said he was excited and pleased with the acquisition, and the opportunities it presents to the company. SA will retain the current staff at PSC and operations will continue as before under the SA Recycling name. According to Adams, “SA greatly values its employees, its customers, and the communities that we operate within, with a dedication to safety, integrity and the best in operations. We will continue that philosophy with the PSC acquisition.”
SA Recycling made its first entry into the Southeast scrap markets when it purchased the seventeen (17) scrap metal processing facilities of Newell Recycling Southeast, LLC, in February of 2016. In November of 2017, SA acquired the assets of Tennessee Valley Recycling, LLC, headquartered in Decatur, Alabama, with seven (7) locations in the Alabama/Tennessee region. In 2018, SA acquired the assets of Georgia Recyclers in Savannah. In a separate deal in 2018, SA assumed the operations of two Alter yards in Mobile, Alabama and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 2020 SA acquired the assets of Steel City Recycling in Birmingham, Alabama and West Point, Mississippi. In 2021 SA entered the Florida market with the purchases of Capital Scrap (Pompano Beach, FL., West Palm Beach, FL., Stuart, FL.); Metals USA (Lauderhill, Fl., Opa Locka, FL., Miami, FL.); and Southern Scrap (Pensacola, FL). In August of 2021 SA acquired the assets of Southern Recycling LLC, in Nashville, Tennessee, Bowling Green and Owensboro, Kentucky. The PSC acquisition now expands SA’s footprint to include markets along the Mississippi river and the Ohio valley.
SA Recycling now operates one hundred and twenty-five (125) scrap metal processing facilities from coast to coast including twenty-three (23) shredders and three (3) port loading operations in Long Beach and Los Angeles, California, and Savannah, Georgia. The company also operates an iron ore facility in Long Beach, California offering high grade Iron Ores to the international marketplace. The Orange, California based company specializes in the purchase, processing and sales of ferrous and nonferrous metals with a strong domestic presence as well as export operations. SA’s philosophy is a dedication to customer service, safe and clean operations for their employees and customers, a dedication to community and family, and offering the best recycling services and value to its customers. The company is headed by CEO George Adams and is a joint venture between Adams Steel and Sims Limited.
